This year the Blessing Band was smaller than in the past. We were 13 dedicated souls united for the gargantuan task of blessings the city, the 2 million parade observers and the entire planet. We were joined by 10 belly dancers from PURE, Public Urban Ritual Experiment, www.puredance.org an incredible troupe that I have collaborated with in the past.

All in all, we made a great group. The advantage of such
a relatively small band was the intimacy that we felt for each other, the discipline of our movements and our extraordinarily coordinated spirit.

After walking for about 10 blocks it started to rain — a light drizzle that we barely noticed. Then a few blocks later the heavens let loose and it poured. Though we were all soaked to the skin the storm did nothing to dampen our enthusiasm!
